Blue Cow’s milk

Rogue River Blue

Wrapped in brandy-soaked vine leaves. Named world’s best cheese in 2019.

An illustrated wedge of Rogue River Blue

Drawn by the app from this cheese’s own record — paste, rind and texture come from the data, not a stock library.

Made at Rogue Creamery in southern Oregon only from autumn equinox milk, then wrapped in Syrah grape leaves that have been macerated in pear brandy and aged nine to eleven months. In 2019 it became the first American cheese to win the World Cheese Awards outright.

The leaves are not decoration: they impart a fruity, boozy, vegetal note that runs right through a paste that is already sweet, bacony and fudgy.
